Our History

The first hint of ShopWeShip.com’s (formerly Dong-Xi.com) inevitable formation was in late November 2009 when its soon-to-be founder left an advertisement on theBeijinger.com promoting his service of bringing Amazon.com purchased books back to Beijing at a discount price. Over ten people replied, and he learned a market existed for books, and perhaps other items from abroad that are not readily accessible in Beijing.

Dong-Xi.com was born in December 2009 and began offering package forwarding and payment services to assist its Members to purchase products from any US website. The most popular items were initially baby and child supplies and electronics not yet release in China.

The Beijing expat market expanded to the Shanghai market in middle 2010 and soon started to see expat customers in other first and second tier cities.

In October 2010, Dong-Xi.com recreated a sleeker and more advanced interface to assist expats and, with its new Chinese page, the quickly growing Chinese market.

This team of two Americans quickly evolved into a six person team advancing the way Chinese purchase from foreign online retailers by deeply understanding the Chinese and China expat markets and the e-commerce of the West.

In March 2011, the founder separated with Dong-Xi.com and started ShopWeShip.com—a service more focused on expatriates and foreigners living in Asian countries. Also, with its new business model, ShopWeShip.com focuses on relationships with the retailers to allow its Members to shop without paying a ShopWeShip.com service fee when shopping from more than 30 top US retailers.
